First Owner Visit

I have been in my new position for about 7 weeks or so, and our first owner visit was this past week. I was a nervous wreck, as there is still so much to my job and my property that I am learning, setting up, putting into motion, etc...just a lot I don't have a handle on yet, which is to be expected since I'm new. But still, you don't want to look incompetant in front of the owner!

My team, both leasing and maintenance, worked so hard the last week to get the property ready for Barbara's visit; we stayed late, came in early, swapped days off, and made list after list after list of things to check off. Pressure washing, curb painting, parking audits, insurance audits, file audits, deep cleans...there was so much to do! But we got it all done in the knick of time.

Our visit was scheduled for this Monday, and it went SO well. Joleene (my Regional) and Barbara showed up after lunch and went over a long list with me - marketing, budget, occupancy, etc - and were pleased with my ideas for resident events and how to get the last few leases we need this month. There were a couple things Joleene had to jump in and answer for me, and I definitely faltered a bit, but overall I was happy with how everything went.

I was especially happy when Joleene emailed me the next morning to tell me that I had WOW-ed Barbara with the way I had control of my residents and my team, and that she had been very impressed. Yay!! I am hoping that an awesome owner visit helps me plead my case for a raise at my annual review next week, even though I am still very new to the position. :)

So glad to be doing well at work!
