Labor Day Weekend * Success!

Camping this weekend was a blast! With Blake being a busy, sleepy, not super happy camper, it was a bit of a challenge, but I think between all of the adults we did a pretty good job keeping him coralled and not screaming bloody murder. He didn't fall in the fire, drown, or cut off any limbs, so I think that means it was good. :)

We had a later start than we were hoping for, but Daphnie and I hung around in the morning in my a/c and waited for Stace and Tyler, and it was really no big deal. We were at camp and all set up by about 3. Blake and Finn played for a bit in "baby jail," while we set things up and had a drink. Friday night, Nick drove up to stay the night and fish with Tyler Saturday morning, and I'm always happy to see him, so that was fun. We all just had a few drinks, sat around the fire, and tried to keep Blake happy.

Saturday morning the boys went fishing, I ran into town to work for a bit, and the rest of the relatives went up to Battle Ground for Alan's wedding. Arriving back at camp, the only person there but me was Tyler, so we ate lunch and took a nap (no, not together) for a few hours in the sun...awesomeness. :) Pat and Juliana showed up with Pepsi the magical hangover cure, and we all hung out in our site again, joined by Kitty and Stu and far too much vodka.

Sunday morning we lounged, then took Blake for a nice walk through the woods down to the fish hatchery, and getting him out and about was very helpful. He took 2 awesome naps on Sunday (had he not, I think Stacey would have been leaving a day early, lol) and even slept better that night. Stace, Tyler and I had another fire Sunday night and swapped stories about poop. Yes, poop. Its amazing how many stories involve one of us - or someone we know - being shit on, LOL. Stace and I slept in the back of my car that night while Tyler took baby duty...awesome of him. The trouble was, Blake doesn't sleep under covers, so he would wiggle out of his blankets, then get cold, wake up, cry, get covered back up, sleep...repeat all night long. Poor baby. :(

Monday we slept in a bit later, had breakfast, cleaned up and took off around noon for home.

It was a super fun weekend away from the craziness of work, and I was so thankful to have been able to stay all weekend. I think we did decide that next time we need to make sure all the campers with kids book sites near each other, because we were unable to hang out with Phil & Sarah with them being stuck at their site with a sleeping baby and us stuck at ours with one...so we'll have to be smarter next time. But all in all, I had a great weekend and was so glad to get away.

  1. tons of fun and now they are debriefing Daphnie. Her daddy may have to remove her brain and eyes and wash them out with disinfectant.
