Summer of ME!

The 2012 Summer of Veronica has kicked off in full swing and I am enjoying every minute of being busy, tired, and NOT focused on work all the time...

Stacey and I hit the road this Friday evening with Blake in tow to spend the night and all day Saturday with Tyler's cousins, Shannon and Kimber and their families. We had a great time! I picked Stace and Bubba up, we grabbed dinner and headed out around 7:00. There was insane thunder and lightening through Vancouver, but the weather cleared up shortly after and we made great time after about Kelso. Blake, being the perfect baby that he is, slept the entire drive from Aloha to Seattle, and then only needed about 30 minutes of wiggle time before being ready to go back to bed. Phew!

Midnight "get your wiggels out."

Saturday morning, we were up early and ready to see the sights. Shannon has 2 toddlers, Kimber is about 2 weeks from having her baby, and we had Blake as well...a Seattle adventure like this required breakfast mimosas for sure! We had no idea where we were headed, as Shannon had dubbed it a Surprise Adventure, but we loaded kids into 2 cars and hit the road.

The big surprise turned out to be a Duck Tour - one of those buses that goes on land and in water. What better way to see Seattle with 3 kids than all strapped in and someone driving you around?!? It was a great 90 minute ride through the streets (and the lake). Our driver was hilarious, full of jokes, and the music was fun. Blake and I danced in our seat for most of the ride, and we all took pictures, laughed, and enjoyed the ride.

Hello Seattle!

Smith Cousins

Blake wasn't this angry for the whole trip...LOL

From there, we parted ways for lunch and naps, and then met back up at Shannon's house for a BBQ with their family and friends. It was great to meet some new people, eat good food, and enjoy the beautiful weather before we packed up and headed home.

I think the only downside to the weekend was that we left the diaper bag in Seattle and nobody noticed until we were in Centralia at a gas station. Oops!!

As I had expected, it was great to have so many hours in the car with Stacey to catch up, chat, and listen to music. We don't get to spend nearly enough time together these days with as busy as we both are, and I really enjoyed the ride.
